Compounding ... It's what we do best!

What is compounding?

Pharmacy Compounding is the art and science of preparing customised medications for patients.

compounding specialistSometimes patients can be allergic to preservatives or dyes, lactose intolerant or are sensitive to standard drug strengths. A compounding pharmacist can change the strength of a medication, alter its form to make it easier for the patient to ingest, or add flavour to it to make it easier for consumption.

Almost any kind of prescription can be compounded if no other commercial product is available. Compounded prescriptions are ideal for any patient, (even pets!) who may require unique dosages and/or delivery devices, which can take the form of solutions, suppositories, pessaries, sprays, oral rinses, lozenges and even transdermal gel.

Compounding has been part of healthcare since the origins of pharmacy, and is used widely today in all areas of the industry. It is due to the advances in technology, quality control and research methodology that compounding has experienced a resurgence in the last decade.

If a commercial product is unavailable we can compound.

If an alternative product is not available we can compound.

Benefits outweigh risks from the patient e.g: age, weight, health, customers' history? we can compound.

We work closely with doctors and specialists to prepare specialised compounds for each patient.

Our product is prepared using a valid prescription for a specific patient and supplied directely to that patient not through a third party.

Does my doctor know about compounding?

Prescription compounding is a rapidly growing component of many doctors' practices. But in today's world of aggressive marketing by drug manufacturers some may not realise the extent of compounding's resurgence in recent years.

Ask your doctor about compounding today! If you have any enquires, our dedicated team of compounding pharmacists will be available to assist 7 days a week.

Is compounding affordable?

Compounding machineCompounding may or may not cost more than conventional medication. The cost depends on the type of dosage form and equipment required, plus the time spent researching and preparing the medication.

We have access to pharmaceutical-grade quality materials which will dramatically lower overall costs and allow them to be very competitive with commercially manufactured products.

At Appin Compounding Pharmacy we are committed to providing high-quality compounded medications through the close relationship of patient, doctor and pharmacist to help solve your unique medical problems.
